Digital picture frames are popular because they don’t take up too much space and can hold LOTS of pics. Many allow friends and family to upload to the frame directly from anywhere.
If you want to do a wall collage of frames, try cutting out paper the same size as the frames you plan to use. Then tape the cutouts to the wall with blue tape, arranging and spacing them how you want. You can take a step back and make sure it looks good to you. It's much easier to re-arrange or re-adjust the cutouts than to have to rehang the pictures.
