When it comes to making scrapbooks, there is so much out there it can feel overwhelming. I no longer feel that pressure and have a process that makes it very doable for me.
I collect all the years photos into a file in my photos app. I go through the photos selecting what I want for the album, then I upload them to CVS or Snapfish to be printed. Once I get the prints, I sort them in chronological order, keeping events grouped together. Then I pick out some colors for the album, match paper to photos and begin to crop photos and arrange on 12 x 12 pages. I add embellishment or washi tape and often write directly on the page to add comments or more detail. I also include special cards I’ve received and misc. quotes and meme’s that I find meaningful or funny.
Each book becomes a ‘snapshot’ of the year. I’ve referenced the albums many times to remember what year I did something. For me it is much easier than scrolling though photos until I find the ones I want.
And there are many times I've gone to the bookshelf, pulled out an album, and sat on the couch to flip through.
